Barry Maitie

Born in Cairns, raised and reside at Kubin Community Moa Island, Torres Strait. Torres Strait is also known Zenadh Kes, is a strait between Australia and the Melanesian Island of the New Guinea.
My primary schooling was at Kubin State School, Secondary schooling was at Mount Saint Bernards Collage Herberton in the tablelands where i graduated at the end of year 12. 
As a child Ive learnt that drawing and putting my art for people to see is good fun and i enjoy doing it. Stories i like to tell in my art work is mostly animals, totem and landscapes. Cultural stuff.  
My Hobbies includes Island dancing, Fishing, Boating, Hunting, Netting and much more. English is not my first language i speak creole with the understanding of different languages spoken at home, both my parents speaks fluent language of Mother (KLY) and Father (KKY). 
My Father is from Boigu Island Moegi Bui (kadal) Goeruge tribe. My Mother is from Moa Island (Argun/Wakaid & Italgau Tribe. I am the 2nd youngest sibling of 8 children.
