Title: Free Green Turtle, 2011
This artwork I created to signify a turtle just being free in their home, the sea. The ghost net is a plastic fishing net, discarded and lost at sea from fishing boats. We are using the ghost nets in our artwork, making baskets, jewellery and sculptures and many more priceless works. With this, it was when I saw on the internet a turtle trapped in the ghost net, my heart was touched. I was very sad. I wanted to show a turtle swimming freely and safely and having freedom in his home.
